January Blues
January in the Hospitality Industry is a very interesting month. It includes reviews of the previous year, staff training, planning the new year and most importantly a big post Christmas chaos tidy up. There is no doubt that the Hospitality Industry benefits hugely from the December festive frenzy and working in the industry there are three major milestones that produce a collective sigh of relief across the sector; firstly when the Christmas music ends, secondly when the decorations come down and finally sending out the last Roast Turkey dinner of the season. The major challenge for January is keeping everyone motivated. After a fast paced December, January can be a huge come-down as the pace slows down to a canter.
A Good Pick-Me-Up
Before Christmas, Head Chef Billy Doyle won the Simon Rimmer's Chef''s Challenge 2012 with his stunning Duo of Venison. On the back of this, and full of confidence, we decided to enter the Publican's Morning Advertiser National Pub Food Challenge for the Best Pie Category.
This week we received this letter from the Publican to tell us we had been selected in the top three and have made it through to the final:
The next stage is a taste test with a panel of judges and interviews with myself and Billy on February 12th 2013. Needless to say we are very proud to be selected as one of the top three in the country! We hope to emulate Phil Davies achievement of the Nation's Best Burger, and then Holmes Chapel will hold the titles for Best Pie and Best Burger!
Fingers crossed!!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and we have created a superb menu for you to treat your special someone. We have enlisted the help of Robinson's wine buyer, Noel Reid, to help us to pair each dish on each course with one of our wines from our wine list.
